Terms of service
The agreement between you and BKS Accounting Services when you file a Form 2290 through this site.
What we do
We are an IRS Authorized e-file Provider for Form 2290. We prepare your Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax return from the information you give us, validate it against the IRS schema, transmit it through the IRS Modernized e-File system, and make the acknowledgement and stamped Schedule 1 available in your account.
What we do not do
We do not sign your return. Federal law requires the taxpayer to sign, and you do so with your own IRS self-select PIN. We transmit a return you have signed; we never sign on your behalf.
We do not pay your tax. The Heavy Vehicle Use Tax is owed to the IRS and is separate from our filing fee. If you choose Electronic Funds Withdrawal, the IRS debits your account directly. The money does not pass through us. If you choose EFTPS or card, you pay the IRS yourself and the tax remains unpaid until you do.
We are not the IRS and are not affiliated with or endorsed by it.
Your responsibilities
- The information you supply must be accurate. We validate the shape of a VIN, an EIN and a weight category, but we cannot know whether a VIN is the right vehicle or a weight is the right weight.
- You are responsible for filing on time. We will transmit promptly, but a return started close to a deadline may not be acknowledged before it.
- If a suspended vehicle later exceeds the mileage limit, the tax becomes due and an amended return is required. That obligation is yours.
- Keep your account credentials to yourself. Anyone signed in to your account can file a federal return in your name.
Fees
Our fee is a flat amount per return, banded by how many vehicles are on it, and is shown to you before any card is charged. Current bands are on the pricing page. Fleets above the self-serve limit are quoted individually.
Rejections and refiling
If the IRS rejects your return, we tell you what the error code means and you can correct and resubmit it. We do not charge our filing fee a second time for resubmitting the same return.
Refunds
Our fee covers preparing and transmitting a return. Once a return has been transmitted to the IRS the work is done and the fee is not refundable. If you paid and we have not transmitted, write to support@2290.agency. A refund of our fee is never a refund of tax paid to the IRS. That is a matter between you and them.
Availability
The IRS Modernized e-File system has its own maintenance windows and annual shutdown periods. During those we can accept and hold your return but cannot transmit it, however available our own site is.
Changes
We may change these terms. Fees already quoted on a return in progress do not change under you.
